Job Description

  • DIDO | Wipa Local
  • 5:2 Roster
  • Seeking local Indigenous talent with hospitality skills and a can-do attitude — your next adventure starts here!

Why Join Sodexo?

Sodexo is a people business, employing over 400,000 people worldwide and thousands in Australia. Our hospitality all-rounders play a key role in keeping our sites functioning and well-maintained for village residents' safety, comfort, and well-being. Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater because we believe our everyday actions have a big impact. Here’s what’s on offer:

  • Access to fantastic Village facilities and lifestyle options including gyms, fitness classes, pools, tennis courts, and social activities (dependent on Village)
  • We offer a competitive salary, many training, upskilling and development opportunities and an outstanding benefits and recognition program!
  • Great teamwork and a solid group of people around you!
  • Indigenous mentors available to support your journey and strengthen your connection to community.

What’s the role?

We’re on the lookout for customer service-oriented individuals living in or near Weipa to join our regional Queensland teams. This is a Drive -In Drive-Out (DIDO) role that offer a great entry point into the mining and resources sector. If you have hospitality or industrial cleaning experience—or bring a positive, can-do attitude and transferable skills—this is your chance to step into a rewarding role where your work makes a real impact.

  • Work across key village services including housekeeping, kitchen support, retail, and mine site cleaning

  • Enjoy a DIDO 5:2 roster that offers stability, work-life balance, and travel opportunities

  • Be part of a supportive team that values safety, service excellence, and collaboration

  • Grow your career with ongoing training and development in some of Australia’s most unique and remote locations

This is more than just a job—it’s a career move.

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking reliable, customer-focused individuals with hospitality, industrial cleaning, or related experience—or those with transferable skills and a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll thrive in a team environment and be comfortable working in remote locations with varying conditions.

You’ll need to:

  • Have experience in housekeeping, kitchen support, retail, or industrial cleaning roles

  • Be ready to work 12-hour shifts, including day and night rotations

  • Demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to help across different tasks

  • Commit to following safety procedures and workplace protocols

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence and pass pre-employment medical checks, including drug and alcohol screening

  • Be an Australian citizen or hold full working rights

Working on the mines can be incredibly rewarding, but it’s not for everyone—our casual FIFO roles require flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to work across a variety of service attendant areas throughout Queensland.

Candidates must be local to where the job is being advertised or willing to relocate at their own expense and should be prepared for 11-hour workdays on a 5:2 roster (5 days on-site, 2 days at home). Before applying, please consider what’s expected and whether this lifestyle suits you.
