Right on pace with Target’s distinctive retail brand, Target Finance and Accounting are transforming for the better. As so much more than a behind-the-scenes number-cruncher, you will be a truly collaborative partner with a seat at the table. You’ll bring your unique point of view, experience and passion for the work to your team and internal clients. Within Accounting, you’ll enjoy the interesting challenges of the competitive retail space, and you’ll have a 360-degree impact—rather than on just one part of the business. You’ll see your contributions come to life in virtually every area of this dynamic enterprise. And you’ll grow and be challenged in your career while having a healthy balance with life outside of work. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target’s business initiatives and core retail operations.

As an Accounting Manager, Revenue Accounting, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for Target’s loyalty program, strategic external partnerships, and other retail revenue streams. In this role, you’ll oversee core accounting and controllership activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, financial reporting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis. You’ll evaluate partnership agreements and evolving business arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition and accounting treatment, while ensuring effective accounting processes and controls are in place to support compliance with accounting standards and internal control requirements.

You’ll work with cross-functional partners to understand business operations and translate new initiatives and partnership arrangements into appropriate accounting and financial reporting outcomes. Some of these partners include Operations, Finance, Legal, and external business partners. Using your analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll provide accounting guidance to support Target’s evolving loyalty program and broader business objectives. You’ll also drive continuous improvement across accounting processes, controls, and reporting through automation, standardization, and enhanced use of technology and analytics.

Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • 3-6 years of accounting, finance, or relevant business experience.
  • CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition and expense accounting concepts, preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and operationalizing accounting guidance for complex or evolving business models.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a strong internal control environment, including SOX compliance and controllership responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across multiple levels and functions.
  • Strong digital acumen, including experience with ERP systems, data analysis, and process automation; SAP experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
