You will lead internal and executive communications strategies across a complex, matrixed division while ensuring local priorities remain connected to the broader North Carolina & Georgia Division and Advocate Health strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Build people, engagement, and change communication strategies that strengthen understanding, leadership activation, and adoption.
  • Translate complex business, operational, and organizational priorities into clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Lead executive communications and visibility strategies across leadership forums, rounding, teammate communications, and division-wide events.
  • Create leadership messaging, talking points, presentations, town hall content, emails, videos, and other executive communications.
  • Partner with People Operations and Optimization and People Activation Events to develop communications and activation experiences across internal channels.
  • Drive strategic storytelling that connects local growth, access, operational performance, transformation, and teammate culture to the broader Advocate Health story.
  • Ensure consistency across the division’s four areas while recognizing differences in local audiences, priorities, and operating environments.
  • Develop listening and two-way communication strategies that strengthen feedback loops and provide leaders with meaningful teammate insights.
  • Collaborate with division, area, and enterprise communication partners to coordinate priorities and anticipate broader communication implications.
  • Measure communication and engagement efforts and use insights to improve effectiveness and demonstrate impact.
  • Promote a culture of strategic partnership, high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of progressive strategic communications experience.
  • Significant experience in internal and executive communications within a large, complex organization.
  • Demonstrated success advising senior executives and developing executive messaging and strategic communication plans.
  • Deep experience supporting organizational transformation, change initiatives, complex business priorities, and sensitive issues.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business and operational strategies into clear, engaging communications.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic judgment, and storytelling capabilities.
  • Executive communication and leadership advisory expertise.
  • Experience navigating matrixed organizations with multiple markets, business units, or geographic areas.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills across functions and organizational levels.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and risk-management capabilities.
  • Ability to anticipate communication implications and navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with high-quality, hands-on execution.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and reside in the state of North Carolina.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting communications in healthcare or another large, highly matrixed organization.
