About the Team

The Growth team drives user and revenue growth across ChatGPT’s consumer and business segments as well as other OpenAI products worldwide. We operate across the full funnel - from awareness and acquisition through activation, retention, and expansion - using a combination of global performance marketing, AI-powered workflows, in-product optimization, insights, experimentation, and creative engineering. We blend the best of human ingenuity and creativity, with deep technical and quantitative expertise.

About the Role

We are hiring a Head of Performance Marketing to lead global paid media and investment allocation across products, audiences, and markets. You will build a global team, partnering closely with product, engineering, data science, and creative to build durable user and revenue growth strategies. Incrementality and marginal returns will guide your investment framework, delivering growth within clear economic guardrails.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will bring expert campaign and measurement judgment while rethinking how performance marketing operates with AI, automation, and agents. You will both need to IC and build a team already operating at massive scale. Working across technical, product, creative, and finance teams, you will build systems that turn experimentation into better execution and sustained growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Set the global performance-marketing strategy and operating model, allocating investment based on incremental impact and marginal returns.

  • Build and develop a global team with deep channel expertise and clear accountability for results.

  • Work directly on campaign strategy and execution, diagnosing performance across audiences, creative, bidding, and pacing.

  • Partner with Data Science, Analytics, Growth Product, and Finance to measure incremental growth, establish economic guardrails, and guide forecasting and investment decisions.

  • Build AI-powered workflows and agents for creative testing, campaign creation, optimization, and analysis, with rigorous evaluation and human accountability.

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Creative, and Product to translate audience insights and product priorities into effective campaigns.

  • Coordinate with the Brand media strategy and planning leader to align execution and share learning across Brand and Growth. You will both need to optimize the ‘overall’ media allocation (i.e. “Brand plus Performance”) intelligently.

  • Drive the partnership with our biggest ad platform partners (e.g. Google, Meta et al) to stay on the cutting edge of performance, and shape their roadmap to drive innovation.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • A track record of scaling performance marketing across channels and markets, delivering incremental user and revenue growth.

  • Experience building global teams while staying close to campaign execution and technical detail.

  • Deep paid-media expertise across audience strategy, creative testing, bidding, pacing, and optimization.

  • Strong judgment in incrementality, experimentation, attribution, and customer economics, with experience translating findings into investment decisions.

  • Experience personally building or deploying AI workflows and automation, including evaluating results and managing failures.

  • The technical fluency and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Data Science, Creative, and Finance.

  • A practical leadership style: you can set long-term direction, investigate problems, and build better ways to work.

  • Experience managing strategic media-platform partnerships, commercial negotiations, and measurement integrations.

  • An ability to, and desire to continue to, operate in the fastest moving environment in the world right now.
