The Apparel Quality & Fit Technician is a shared service support role across Quality Assurance and Technical Design. The position provides hands-on support with quality testing-program management, quality assessments, store and customer product quality investigations, and department operations including sample coordination, garment measurement, PLM administration, reporting, and physical sample organization.

The role gathers and records quality-related data, coordinates and prepares samples and documentation, maintains systems, trackers, records, and physical samples, monitors workflow and outstanding actions, and escalates findings to the appropriate QA Product Manager or Technical Designer for authorized review, disposition, and decision-making.

This position follows our hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in Grand Rapids MI office, Thursday-Friday remote.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supports the QA Product Manager with quality-program administration, including PLM administration, testing-program management, product and vendor records, quality-system documentation, operational tracking, and assigned department activities.

• Coordinates product-testing workflow by preparing and monitoring testing submissions, maintaining PLM and testing trackers, monitoring due dates, reviewing testing documentation for completeness, and following up with third-party laboratories, vendors, overseas Sourcing offices, and internal cross-functional partners.

• Coordinates documentation and follow-up for test failures and corrective actions by compiling available product, testing, vendor, and supporting information and escalating findings to the QA Product Manager for authorized disposition, resolution, and corrective action planning.

• Supports store and customer product-concern reviews by coordinating samples, store investigations, product evaluations, and fact-finding activities; gathering available information; maintaining case, complaint, defect, and follow-up records; assisting with return-data and investigation reporting; and tracking required actions.

• Assists with quality assessments, product evaluations, audit support, vendor and laboratory follow-up, corrective action plans, quality reporting, and seasonal or special quality initiatives.

• Supports quality and continuous improvement activities through data collection, reporting, process tracking, documentation management, and assigned department projects.

• Supports shared workflow across Quality Assurance and Technical Design by tracking incoming and outgoing counter, fit, pre-production, testing, inspection audits, store concerns, customer complaints, and internal testing samples, including monitoring statuses, due dates, and outstanding actions.

• Maintains PLM information, trackers, reports, files, and administrative records by entering data, sample status, approved comments, images, testing information, measurement results, and other assigned product information.

• Receives, routes, organizes, stores, and manages physical samples, including preparing samples for donation or purge, and maintains the fit lab, sample-storage areas, QA storage areas, and related workspaces in an orderly, accurate, and business-ready condition.

• Communicates with Meijer team members, Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, vendors, agents, overseas Sourcing offices, and third-party laboratories to support the timely and accurate completion of assigned Quality Assurance and Technical Design activities.

• Prepares samples for Technical Designer review and fit sessions by measuring garments against approved Point of Measure specifications, accurately recording results, identifying measurement variances, and organizing samples and supporting documentation.

• Provides Technical Design operational and administrative support, including sample follow-up, fit session preparation, document maintenance, workload tracking, reporting, seasonal project reporting, special data projects, and sample cleanup activities.

• Assists with fit session coordination, fit sample preparation, measurement verification, reporting, and follow-up activities as directed by the Technical Design team.

  • This job profile is not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position; may perform other duties as assigned or required.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Associate or Bachelor‘s degree in Apparel, Textile Science, Technical Design, Product Development, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience considered.
