Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Weekend Kitchen Porter to join our team in Galway, Ireland. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of our kitchen operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment while developing your skills in food service support.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware using commercial dishwashing equipment
- Organize and store kitchen equipment, ingredients, and supplies in designated areas according to established protocols
- Assist with food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients as directed by kitchen staff
- Remove and dispose of waste and recyclable materials in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Perform general kitchen cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work surfaces and equipment
- Support kitchen staff by restocking supplies and ensuring all necessary items are readily available
- Maintain awareness of food safety and hygiene standards at all times
- Work efficiently during peak service times to support the overall kitchen operation
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to management promptly
- Follow all health, safety, and food handling procedures established by the organization
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar hospitality support role (preferred)
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
