This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide one of the nation's premier academic plastic surgery programs, overseeing a broad portfolio of reconstructive, microsurgical, craniofacial, hand, gender-affirming, aesthetic, and complex wound reconstruction services. The Division Director will shape the strategic direction of the division while advancing Cedars-Sinai's missions of clinical excellence, innovation, education, research, and community impact.

About the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

The division collaborates closely with leading programs in Cancer, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Breast Surgery, Dermatology, Trauma, Transplantation, and Pediatrics to provide comprehensive patient-centered care.

The division is home to one of the nation's leading reconstructive microsurgery programs, with 10 fellowship-trained microsurgeons performing the full spectrum of complex reconstructive microsurgery. The division also maintains the largest lymphedema and peripheral nerve reconstruction programs in the western United States, serving as a major regional and national referral center for complex reconstructive care.

Faculty include internationally recognized surgeon-scientists who are supported by a robust federally funded research enterprise. Collectively, division faculty produce approximately 50 to 100 peer-reviewed publications annually, spanning translational science, clinical outcomes, innovation, and surgical education. This academic environment provides exceptional opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, discovery, and the development of future leaders in plastic surgery.

The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery plays a central role in graduate medical education as a core rotation for the University of Southern California (USC) Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program. The division also sponsors the Randy Sherman Global Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship, supporting both clinical and research fellows dedicated to advancing reconstructive microsurgery worldwide. In addition, the division currently trains two microsurgery fellows and one peripheral nerve surgery fellow, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to excellence in advanced subspecialty education.

Key clinical areas include:

  • Breast reconstruction, including microsurgical and implant-based reconstruction

  • Complex microsurgery and free tissue transfer

  • Robot-assisted microsurgery

  • Lymphedema surgery

  • Craniofacial and facial reconstructive surgery

  • Hand and upper-extremity reconstruction

  • Gender-affirming surgery

  • Complex wound management and limb salvage
