The Financial Business Systems Analyst supports the analysis, development, maintenance, testing, and enhancement of healthcare finance, claims processing, revenue cycle, and billing systems. This role requires hands-on experience with patient financial data—including charges, reimbursements, payments, adjustments, and denials—as well as a strong understanding of healthcare financial operations and transactional data.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with financial numbers, analyzing complex data flows, identifying discrepancies, improving processes, and partnering with Finance, Information Services, Revenue Cycle, and Operations teams. Experience with Epic Revenue Cycle applications and healthcare clearinghouses is highly preferred.
- Analyze patient financial data, including charges, reimbursements, payments, contractual adjustments, denials, refunds, write-offs, and accounts receivable activity.
- Automate recurring reports and develop ad hoc financial, claims, billing, and revenue cycle reports.
- Create and maintain Excel workbooks using pivot tables, pivot charts, interactive graphs, formulas, lookups, conditional logic, data validation, and other analytical tools.
- Develop dashboards and reports that track revenue cycle performance, claims status, rejections, payments, reimbursements, and other key financial metrics.
- Review financial transactions and patient account activity to identify discrepancies, unusual trends, posting errors, and opportunities for corrective action.
- Analyze data and process flows between healthcare applications, clearinghouses, financial systems, and enterprise data warehouses to support accurate and timely data transfer.
- Conduct audits and transactional reviews to validate data accuracy, financial integrity, compliance, and adherence to established procedures.
- Monitor claims submitted to clearinghouses, investigate rejections and discrepancies, and coordinate resolution of claim submission issues.
